Black ceramic is made from titanium carbide and is a nine on the Mohs hardness scale. It is highly scratch resistant and hypoallergenic. Set into an offset channel is a deep red opal inlay, the color flickering like embers against the dark band. The white glow powder underneath catches UV light and glows through and alongside the opal, creating a unique effect. 

Under UV light, the white glow shines through and around the red opal, intensifying the depth and color. The glow continues shortly after the light source is gone.
